Gilani visits PIMS to see operation being conducted by Chinese doctors of cataract patients

ISLAMABAD, (SANA): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani visited PIMS hospital on Friday to see the operation being conducted by Chinese doctors of cataract patients under the programme titled “Bring Light Tour” of the Chinese government. The Prime Minister was impressed by the quality of the eye treatment by highly qualified Chinese doctors with state of the art technology.
 It may be recalled that during Chinese Premier’s visit to Pakistan early this year, he announced that Chinese doctors would come to Pakistan to undertake one thousand cataract patient operations free of charge. The doctors, according to the hospital sources have administered 200 operations so far during last four days of the patients hailing from Bajour, Mansehra, Haripur, Attock ,Jehlum etc.
 
The treatment of patients entails from cotton to lenses through laser technology and the patients are also given Rs. 2500 after the treatment, said the hospital management.
 
According to the hospital management, the Chinese doctors will very soon go to Multan where they will operate upon 500 cataract patients at Nishtar Hospital Multan.
 
The management also said that 500 patients will be operated during the next year in Pakistan under the programme “Bring light Tour”.
